Palm oil

Malaysian palm fruit oil crop production is by far one of the most efficient uses of land area for edible oil production.

Malaysian palm fruit oil yield is about 4,000 kg per hectare (there are approx. 2.471 acres per hectare), It takes twice as much land to yield the same amount of olive oil (2,000 kg. per hectare), Soybean oil yields only 445 kg per hectare and sunflower oil yields just 570 kg per hectare.

Malaysian palm fruit oil production uses far less land than oils of the global oilseed area of 233 million hectares, yet it supplies 12 percent of the global vegetable oils, and 26 percent of the export trade in oils and fats.

Malaysian Palm Oil Industry is one of the world largest palm oil exporters, it currently accounts for 39 % of world palm oil production and 44% of world exports, being one of the biggest producers and exporters of palm oil and palm oil products, Malaysia has an important role to play in fulfilling the growing global need for oils and fats sustainably.
